1) PRE PRODUCTION - As early as possible, D3 should be involved as a consultant to the scriptwriter, director and cameraman. One might say you can shoot anything in 3D, but there are restrictions, as well as artistic/technical/budgetary considerations.
2) PRODUCTION - D3 provides one or more 3D technicians along with one or more 3D base units and related hardware. D3 does not supply cameras. Two cameras provided by the client are mounted on each 3D base, making up one 3D camera unit. Each camera shoots its own tape (film), one a "left" and one a "right." 3) POST PRODUCTION - The client edits the program much as usual, with some additional procedures suggested by D3 (film is a bit more complicated because of the telecine). The two resultant, edited tapes are sent to D3 where they are encoded, using D3's proprietary (patented) Natural Vision encoder. The final master 3D tape can be virtually any professional format (D-1, D-2, D-3, D-5, Betacam SP, Digital Betacam). As each production is a unique situation, we cannot describe here all equipment, personnel, and procedural requirements. The more information you can provide us, the better able we can provide accurate costs as well as potential cost-savings. |
