The SPATIAL efx program has been written to work on a variety of computers, from hand held "pocket" models (including the Palm-types) to desktop (Windows 95-Windows XP). This allows total flexability to have the right answers in virtually any production situation.

The program is composed of various modules. One selects the module that applies to the "question," input certain details one knows, and get back what one didn't know.

This shot is from the VIDEO module, the primary purpose of which is to determine the INTERAXIAL of the camera system to achieve specific PARALLAX values on a specified screen size. In this example, the module is set for a High Definition video camera with a 24 mm lens, to be viewed on a 27" TV. Based on scene parameters, the INTERAXIAL should be set to .871", allowing objects to come as close to the camera (without causing eyestrain) as about 3 1/2'.

Very complex computations take seconds, and SPATIAL efx allows, for the first time ever, consistency from shot to shot. Most 3D films today vary, scene to scene, from confortable to painful to watch. Now, there is no excuse for this.

Virtually any film (8mm to IMAX), video (8mm to HD), or still (35mm to 8x10 and larger) format can be used. Any 3D camera system. Even systems with fixed convergence (a BIG liability) can benefit from SPATIAL efx.

The SPATIAL efx system is provided on a daily basis (not sold) with an experienced 3D consultant. Some have asked why a person is part of the package. No matter how accurate the input/output, the final 3D information from SPATIAL efx is still subject to interpretation. One thing we have found after more than 25 years of professional 3D production, "what's supposed to work, doesn't always, and what shouldn't work, sometimes does." It's very true 3D can be shot without SPATIAL efx, but this is the only way to assure consistency, and reduce or totally avoid eyestrain (depending on the camera system). This in turn results in the elimination of very costly reshoots, which often have plagued certain 3D production.

SPATIAL efx is especially crucial for special effects shots, such as blue/green screen, CGI, and miniatures.
